I teach people to teach themselves.
I'm the founder and director of Institute Alterna, a 501(c)(3) non-profit reshaping how people learn computer science, because success shouldn't depend on where you live, what school you attend, or what resources your family has.
Our trans-continental volunteer team builds curricula and programmes (such as the world's first Model UN conference centred on AI governance), runs workshops, and creates resources that meet over 150 learners wherever they are. Alterna exists because I taught myself to code and saw how broken the traditional path can be.
I also like to ship open-source software, such as serverless applications with Node.js, CLI tools, and design systems that are delightful to experience. I won Florida's statewide Capture The Flag competition in 2024 from a pool of 1,500 contestants, and I enjoy organising hackathons that bring together hackers and builders.
The intersection of cybersecurity and artificial intelligence is where I spend most of my thinking.
Beyond the screen, I find joy in writing letters, taking photos, and listening to far too much EDM. I'm currently in Year 11 of the IB Diploma Programme in Tampa Bay, although I was born and raised in México City 🇲🇽.
In this corner of the internet you'll find my work and some of my thoughts. Feel free to say hello as well.
